Men’s NCAA Gymnastics 2026 Week 9 Snapshot
Nico Hamilton on floor exercise at Oklahoma.
The Big Picture
Oklahoma again achieved the highest score of the season, defeating California 331.6 to 315.7 (a season high for California). Oklahoma also achieved the highest total team E score of the season (213). They did this with only one routine from Fuzzy Benas and none from Sasha Bogonosiuk. They also rested PH star Colby Aranda. Oklahoma is closing the difficulty gap between itself and Stanford, probably close to 50 %.
Michigan made a statement by scoring 326.25 against Penn State’s 311.55, close to Stanford's high of 326.45 and the fifth-highest team total so far this season. Michigan could have probably gone higher with hit routines for from Aaronson Mansberger on PH and Fred Richard on PH and HB.
Ohio State defeated Illinois 316.2 to 313.9. What will be key for Illinois going forward is hitting all their pommel routines. They have some of the highest team difficulty in the NCAA on that event, but are only ranked eighth nationally. They could have a 55- to 56-point PH rotation if they put it all together.
Army narrowly held off Greenville 314.8 to 314.35, followed by Springfield with 307.35. Greenville also competed in Nebraska the same day with a different squad. This was to give more people a chance to compete. Greenville went from birth to competing with two squads in the span of four years.
William and Mary defeated Navy in what I would consider an upset, 310.85 to 308.6. This was a season high for William and Mary. They came in with about two points lower team difficulty than Navy.
Nebraska (319) defeated Simpson (300) and Greenville (295.7). This is the second time this season Simpson has scored 300 or above. Ty Roderiques of Nebraska introduced a 5.2 vault (Kasamatsu double full). Nebraska now has three men on its team who have competed a 5.2 vault - Alex Nitache (did so at Winter Cup), Chase Mondi (but not this year), and now Ty. At the meet, that event was won by a Simpson gymnast, Braxton Jones, with a score of 14.4.
